Terry Poplava joined Catholic Leadership Institute in 2019 from Our Sunday Visitor where he most recently served as Executive Director of Product Development. While at OSV he led marketing, sales, product management and customer service organizations, including parish resources for operational health, publications including books and periodicals, and religion curriculum. Prior to OSV, Terry served as the Director for the Catholic market at ACS Technologies (PDS), as Director of e-business and value innovation at Sonoco Products Company (packaging) and in sales, development and engineering roles for IBM Corporation.
Terry has worked with dioceses and parishes across the United States to their efforts to strengthen parishes and engage and evangelize parishioners. He has presented nationally at numerous diocesan events, the National Conference of Catechetical Leaders, the Mid-Atlantic Conference and for the International Catholic Stewardship Conference. Topics have included presentations and workshops on best practices to build an engaged parish community, “Engagement as a foundation for a journey to Discipleship”, and “Forming a Thriving Parish”.
He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.A. in English at the University of Notre Dame, and an M.B.A. from Clemson University.
Terry and his wife Sharman reside in Hartsville, SC with their most patient dog Dugan. He is Chairman of the Finance Committee, music minister, part time organist and lector at St. Mary the Virgin Mother church in Hartsville, SC. He is a member of a singing group called the Hartsville Chamber Ensemble, and also past President of the Board of the Hartsville-Coker Concert Association.
